Default Unlock Skills

Hey can someone explain to me the skill unlock packs? My question is exactly how many skills are there to unlock in the game?

It says their are 241 core skills (so I'm guessing core skills are skills accessible throughout all campaigns), 214 prophecy skills, 330 factions, 330 nightfall, 100 eye of the north. Does that mean there are a total of 1215 skills, or am I thinking about this in the wrong way?

That figure does not include the PvE-only skills, and I think they gave the wrong number of skills for Nightfall (should be 350). Otherwise, you are correct.

Check the table on this page for more details:

Unlock packs will unlock all the skills in one of the games for you. Any of your heroes can use ANY unlocked skill, even if you characters don't have it. Also, an unlocked skill will be available at all traders from a campaign.

By example, say your level 20 elementalist goes through the game and unlocks meteor shower. Your just-made level 2 elementalist in the same campaign will be able to buy that skill from the first skill trainer he/she comes across.

Also, you can use Tomes to learn any unlocked skill, so you don't have to pay 1k for it, just 1k Faction and w/e the tome price is.

If I only have Prophecies and I buy eg the Factions unlock pack, will my pvp-only characters be able to use those skills, or are the unlock packs only for people who already have the campaign in question and want all the skills unlocked immediately? In other words, if I'm only going to PvP, can I buy all of the unlock packs instead of buying all of the chapters and be fully equipped for PvP?

The plaync store sells them, and they can be found through the in-game store.

Also, if you buy the pvp-only factions, you will only have access to the Factions skills with your pvp characters.

If you're not interested in PvE, you can buy all the pvp packs and you're set for anything.

A couple more newb questions, please bear with me here

1. The in-game store tells me I need PvP access to buy the unlock packs (except for the Prophecies pack, the campaign I already bought). If one of my Prophecies character gains PvP access, will I then be able to buy the unlock packs from the other chapters, or do I have to buy the "PvP Access Kit"?

2. Will I gain PvP access by playing a character through the Prophecies campaign and reaching level 20, or by completing all of the training missions at Isle of the Nameless with a PvP-only character?

I'm a little confused how this all works, as I'm sure you can tell. I just started playing this week. The main reason I bought Prophecies was to try out GW's PvP, and I'm trying to decide whether to buy the other chapters (I'm actually enjoying the PvE element quite a bit as well) or just unlock all the skills and stick to the PvP portion of the game. The latter would be a lot cheaper.
